According to Jorge Nicola, Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus, with personal terms already agreed.

What’s the story?

Well, this would be a sensational signing for Arsenal, to say the least.

Nicola believes Edu – Director of Football at the Emirates Stadium – approached Paulo Pitombeira, the agent of Jesus.

It is said that everything has been agreed between Arsenal and the Brazil international, and now, the Gunners must agree a fee with Manchester City.

In our view, that will be extremely difficult, as Pep Guardiola certainly won’t want to sell his £27m forward to a Premier League rival.

So far this season, Jesus has made 34 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals while also providing 11 assists.

Nicola adds that the 25-year-old would also be in for a pay rise.

It is said that Jesus currently earns €4m-a-year (£3.3m) at the Etihad Stadium, but has been offered €6m-a-year (£5m) by Arsenal.

Arsenal could steal Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City

As aforesaid, this will be a difficult deal to complete, given the fact Arsenal and Manchester City are both part of the Premier League’s top six.

However, the World Cup in November sounds like it could be a decisive factor.

Nicola claims that Jesus wants regular playing time in order to make Tite’s squad for the tournament in Qatar, which he isn’t getting in Manchester.

Furthermore, The Athletic believe Erling Haaland has agreed to join Manchester City this summer, which would surely have a negative impact on the Brazilian’s playing time.

Keep an eye on this saga, as it sounds like this deal could actually happen.
