Italian journalist Carlo Garganese says Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic still believes he made the right decision to reject Arsenal in January and move to the Old Lady – despite Juve’s poor start to the 2022-23 campaign, and Arsenal in first.

Vlahovic, 22, completed a £60million move to Juventus from Fiorentina in January. He has since played 36 times for Juve, scoring 16 goals in 36 games – with seven coming in 15 games this season. Juventus sit in third place this season.

But they only sit as high as third after winning six League games on the bounce, without conceding a goal. Before that run, Juventus only won three out of their first nine League games. Juve lost five of six Champions League group games.

It could have been very different. A move to England was on the cards, but Vlahovic chose to reject a move to North London, according to Garganese. He says that the striker does not regret rejecting the move, despite Arsenal’s form.

“Arsenal wanted to sign him in January, but he rejected Arsenal to sign for Juventus. Despite Arsenal doing so well this season and Juventus not doing very well, Vlahović still believes he made the right decision,” Garganese told GMS.

Arsenal have of course signed Gabriel Jesus since, and the Brazilian has made a decent start. Scoring goals and creating plenty to begin with though, he has since gone on a bit of a goal drought. He was seen with an ice pack out in Qatar.

Indeed, the belief is he may have a knee injury. So, could Arsenal themselves regret not trying for Vlahovic harder? He is certainly the kind of striker that would fit nicely at Arsenal – more than able to create goals and running channels.

Could a move happen in the future? Well, Juventus seem to have turned a corner but if they fail to qualify for Champions League football this season – you can expect Vlahovic to consider his future at the end of the season.
