Transfer expert Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey will definitely join a Premier League club this week. Reports suggest that Newcastle and Crystal Palace remain keen on the Welsh ace.
Ramsey, 31, has managed just five appearances for Juventus this season, and just 70 for the Old Lady since joining the club from Arsenal in the summer of 2019. He has entered the final 18 months of his contract.
Earning enormous wages at Juventus, Max Allegri is keen to offload Ramsey as he struggles to show why he deserves said pay cheque. The Telegraph reported that Ramsey has performed a u-turn regarding Newcastle.
Indeed, the midfielder is keen on a move to Tyneside – but the Toon could face competition from Crystal Palace, as per the Mail. Now, Jones told Give Me Sport Ramsey will join a Premier League club before the deadline.
“Speaking to Italian contacts, they tell me: ‘Juve tell us that he’s not coming back. He’s going to a Premier League club.’ But there’s not a Premier League club seriously interested that Aaron Ramsey wants to join,” Jones said.”
Jones on Ramsey: Newcastle, Palace, where could Juventus star go?
Newcastle could certainly do with Ramsey, and he would fit the transfer blueprint pursued by the club’s new owners this month. So far, they have brought in experienced, proven Premier League players.
Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier have joined, while Jesse Lingard, James Tarkowski and Dele Alli are also being pursued. Ramsey fits the bill and Newcastle do need a midfielder. Palace are also said to be interested.
But they also want Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek on loan and that would surely scupper a move for Ramsey. There is a serious chance he could remain at Juventus come the end of the January window.
