Joshua Kimmich will be thrilled to see Liverpool target Jamal Musiala stay at Bayern Munich, telling the club’s website the teenager is even better than he was at the same age (via Bundesliga.com).

It’s not often a player that young is strutting his stuff week in, week out at the heart of a European superclub’s midfield.

So it almost feels unnecessary to point out Musiala, who only turned 18 last week, is a little different.

The former Chelsea wonderkid has produced stand-out performances against Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig and Lazio during a brilliant break-out season, scoring against the latter in a 4-1 Champions League victory last month.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool hoped to lure Musiala back to England but Bayern were never going to let the twinkle-toed teenager go without a fight.

Musiala could soon become one of the best-paid 18-year-olds in football history with the Guardian claiming a proposed new contract will see him earn a staggering £100,000 a week.

“In his first training sessions with us you could see he could do something special,” says Kimmich, Bayern’s talismanic all-rounder.

“He’s full of tricks, unpredictable and also very dynamic when it comes to controlling the ball, especially with his first touch. He always tries to take the ball forward.

“When I think about where I was at his age, I was still in my youth at VfB Stuttgart.

“He’s very advanced for his age. As a person, he’s very calm and reserved. I think he can and will look to come out of his shell even more as his self-confidence also grows.”

While seemingly committing his long-term future to the European champions, Musiala also had a difficult decision to make at international level.

But England, like Liverpool, will be watching on with envy as Musiala runs the show for Bayern and Germany for years to come.
