Former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter
Jordan Rossiter is alive and well, his Rangers teammate Josh Windass reported on Friday.
The summer signing from Liverpool has made just six league and cup appearances for the Gers – the last of which came against Kilmarnock in August.
However, a recent tweet by Windass, which was seemingly taken from Rossiter’s passenger seat, implies the 19-year-old could be closing in on a return to action.
Ahead of his sacking as Rangers manager on Friday, Mark Warburton told the Daily Record Rossiter had returned to England for treatment on a lower back injury, which was said to be causing pressure at the base of his spine.
“Jordan is down at St George’s Park. No one is more frustrated than him,” Warburton said in quotes published on Sunday.
“We all know how good he is and how good he is going to be. But he has an issue that needs to be resolved and hopefully the staff at St George’s can now help him do that.”
The former Gers boss added: “He has a problem and it’s difficult because it’s not run of the mill. It’s not a normal situation.
“But hopefully Jordan is very close to solving it and he can be right sooner rather than later. I hope this season is not a write-off for him.”
However, at a press conference earlier on Friday, Rangers caretaker Graeme Murty revealed Rossiter was making progress in his efforts to return.
Rangers’ Josh Windass in action
Windass himself missed large chunks of the campaign through injury, but has only missed one of the Gers’ last six Premiership fixtures.
The 23-year-old did, however, sit out Murty’s first game in charge against Ross County on Saturday, but could return this weekend.
