Former Rangers midfielder Josh Windass has said that Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman told him that he could have moved to a better club than the Ibrox outfit, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.

Windass joined Rangers in the summer of 2016 on a free transfer after leaving Stanley at the end of the 2015-16 season.

The 24-year-old, who can operate as a midfielder or as a forward, had signed a pre-contact agreement with Rangers in January 2016.

Windass left Rangers for Wigan Athletic in England in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £2.5 million.

The attacker has revealed that Stanley manager Coleman suggested that he could have moved to a better club than Rangers.

The Scottish Sun quotes Windass as saying about Coleman: “He always says to me to this day, ‘if you’d never signed for Rangers you’d have got a better move, you were that good at the end of that season’.”

Moving on

Windass’s time at Rangers was mixed, as there were games in which he was superb, and on other occasions, he struggled to make an impact.

Rangers are doing well without the Englishman and are not missing him at all. As for Windass, he has established himself as an important player for Wigan, who are aiming to finish in the Championship playoffs this season.
