Josh Windass was brilliant for Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers last season.

Former Rangers star Josh Windass has poured cold water on fan theories that he is the ‘mystery player’ who former Gers coach Jimmy Nicholl slammed on Friday.
Nicholl, who was part of Graeme Murty’s coaching staff at Rangers last season, said he confronted one player who he claimed was wasting his ‘ability and talent’.
Speaking on RockSport Radio, when asked about Paul Pogba at Manchester United, he said: “I had a player like that at Rangers. I said to him: ‘Can I say something to you? I’ve been here four weeks, I’ve watched you, seen you rap the manager’s door – and I’m going to tell you something. Your attitude and your application to training, it’s a waste of ability and talent.
“You’re the type of player that frustrates me the most, because the others one haven’t got your talent and ability.”
Considering several Gers stars didn’t play to their full potential, it could be any one of a handful of players.
It has certainly piqued fan interest, but the truth is that if Nicholl was interested in naming and shaming, he would have done so.
Windass, who scored 18 goals from midfield last season, was one of the Gers’ better players, but questions about his attitude often arose.
And when some fans of the Scottish Premiership giants speculated that he was the target of Nicholl’s comments, the Wigan star was quick to rebuff the suggestions.
