Former Rangers forward Kenny Miller was that impressed by a 15-year-old Billy Gilmour he insisted the wonderkid is better than Barcelona icon Xavi, according to Josh Windass

Gilmour was training with the Rangers first-team squad from the age of 15after a string of stunning performances for the under-20s and Windass told how he was that good, veteran striker Miller insisted he was better than the Spanish maestro.

After his star-making performance in last night’s 0-0 draw between Scotland and England, Windass thinks the Chelsea midfielder could one day end up at the Nou Camp as his career really starts to take off ,telling Open Goal:

Kenny seen it straight away, He came into the changing room one day and Kenny was like ‘I’m telling you now, he plays for Barcelona.’

“I’m going ‘Kenny mate, he’s 15, he’s s*****. Shut up’ and just messing round with him.

“He’s like ‘No Josh, trust me. He’s better than Xavi’ and you know what the lads are like.

But he’s come and trained with us and someone’s wazzed a ball at him and he’s turned it around the corner first time.

“Little 15-year-old and he’s in the box trying tying to ‘meg people and all confident.

“Kenny’s probably not wrong. If he carries on the way he’s going, he might end up playing for Barcelona.”

Billy Gilmour could have already been a Barcelona player rather than a Chelsea one

Gilmour has been attracting attention from some of the biggest clubs in the world for years now and Barcelona scouted him on a number of occassions while he was a Rangers player.

Having been lucky enough to watch Gilmour up close since first breaking into the Rangers under-20s side, Windass’ story definitely doesn’t sound far-fetched.

It was clear to everyone – or pretty much everyone – that Gilmour was destined for the top even back then.
