Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers edged out a Brazilian side on Friday morning, and Josh Windass and James Tavernier engaged in healthy banter afterwards.
Josh Windass has joked on Rangers TV that team-mate James Tavernier had an “absolutely horrific” performance in the 1-0 win over Atletico Mineiro on Friday morning.
The Ibrox side kicked off their mid-season break on a high note by edging out the Brazilian outfit in Floria, with Windass’s second-half goal enough on the day.
Apart from his goal, the 24-year-old was one of Rangers’ brightest players in a game that saw a handful of other players also impress for Graeme Murty’s side.
Andy Halliday and Michael O’Halloran looked bright on their returns to the fold, while new signings Jamie Murphy and Sean Goss played one half apiece.
One man who did legitimately struggle was Benfica loanee Dalcio, who played at left-back, but Windass says that the Portuguese is in good company after joking that right-back Tavernier had something of a shocker.
Asked to comment on his team-mate’s performance, Windass, with Tavernier standing right beside him, told Rangers TV: “No he was absolutely horrific.
“He went out of play about four times, but he did well in the Old Firm so it’s okay. Just keep the ball in play. He let the ball go out but he did alright I guess.”
