Former Glasgow Rangers attacker Josh Windass has hit out at a fan after criticism of the club’s League Cup semi-final loss.

Rangers were defeated 1-0 to Aberdeen, ending this season’s first opportunity to win a trophy for Steven Gerrard.

The Gers have had a promising start to the season but the semi-final loss was a real low point.

Rangers fans have legitimate gripes with how the game went, and have been expressing their frustrations on Twitter.

One caught the eye of former Rangers ace Josh Windass, now of Wigan.

As controversial as ever, Windass hit out, stating sarcastically that he is sure the Rangers supporter could do better than current boss Steven Gerrard.

To be fair to Windass, it would have been easy for him to criticise Steven Gerrard, the manager who sold him in the summer.

But winding up supporters is never a good idea, and all Windass did was invite vitriolic responses.

Given his past history of doing the same, it is unlikely to be the last time he rubs Rangers fans up the wrong way.
