Glasgow Rangers winger Josh Windass is enjoying his best goalscoring spell since arriving at Ibrox.
Two defeats in two may leave a large portion of Rangers supporters not particularly keen to see Graeme Murty stay in charge of the first-team for too much longer.
Murty initially seemed to do his chances of getting the job on a permanent basis no harm at all, winning the first two games of his second spell with the Gers scoring six and conceding one across those two games.
However, defeat to Hamilton at Ibrox and away at Dundee on Friday night has surely dented the 43-year-old’s chances of getting the post – if he was in the running anyway – but perhaps there may be one member of the Light Blues squad who would not mind seeing Murty stay in charge for longer.
Josh Windass has endured a turbulent spell since arriving at Ibrox last summer, showing lots of promise throughout his spell, but often failing to contribute the goals that Rangers need from him – he went through his first season with the club without scoring a single Scottish Premiership goal.
However, the 23-year-old’s tally for this season stands at four goals in the top flight, which is undoubtedly a sign that he has been more dangerous this term.
Interestingly, three of those four goals in the league have come during Murty’s most recent caretaker spell, with the latest his brilliant finish in the defeat to Dundee. And while Windass could have easily just hit a purple patch at a time when Rangers are creating a number of chances, he may reflect on his recent run and feel that Murty staying on for longer may be a positive for him if the coach is helping bring the best out of him.
