Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are only five points behind Celtic.

Josh Windass has told Rangers TV it’s simply “remarkable” that he and his team-mates are second in the Scottish Premiership in spite of the mountain of problems they have encountered this season.
Only five points separate Rangers from Celtic – who have a game in hand – after the Hoops dropped two points in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Hibernian.
The Gers picked up a hard-fought 2-1 win over Ross County on Saturday for what was their third successive Premiership win – the first time that they have achieved that feat in a year.

Graeme Murty is in charge of Rangers until the end of the season following the farcical situation in which the club’s hierarchy seemed certain to name Derek McInnes as Pedro Caixinha’s successor after a six-week search to replace the sacked Portuguese, only for the Aberdeen boss to snub a move to Ibrox.
Caixinha spent plenty of money in the summer but this is the best that Rangers have played all season, and Windass finds it crazy how they are still the second best side in Scotland so far in spite of the issues that have arose since August.
“We’ve performed not anywhere near towards the level we can perform”, he told Rangers TV. “And we’re still second [in the table], which is remarkable.

“To be still be in second after the way we have played is a bonus and I think we have got away a little bit.
“But we will obviously take it and try and build on it and try and play better towards the end of the season.”
Windass is right – the fact that Rangers and Celtic are so close together is rather bizarre. The managerial situation at Ibrox has perhaps distracted everybody from Rangers’ form which, for the most part under Murty, has been excellent and they have crept right up there.
Winning the Premiership is still a massive task, but it’s certainly encouraging that they aren’t already out of the race, like last season.
