Josh Windass and Chris Sutton have reacted immediately on Twitter as Rangers lose to Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties in the Europa League final. Aaron Ramsey missed a penalty, in the shootout after 120 tense minutes.
The Gers came into their first European final since 2008, but it was penalties that denied the Gers. Joe Aribo had given his side the lead just before the hour mark – only for Rafael Santos Borre to equalise soon after.
The game, in the sweltering Seville heat, when into an excruciating extra-time. The Gers looked good, Ryan Kent missing a tap-in on 118 minutes – as Kevin Trapp produced a save branded “world class” by John Lundstram.
After five penalties each, Frankfurt won the Europa League trophy with on-loan Rangers midfielder Ramsey missing the only spot-kick. His effort was saved by Trapp. Both Sutton and Windass gave their immediate reactions.

A dismal way to lose, and end such a wonderful run to the final. Rangers were excellent, held their own in tricky conditions. Even the substitutes that came on, were superb for Rangers – Calvin Bassey probably the best.
But it was Trapp that proved decisive. The Frankfurt skipper stopped Kent’s effort and made numerous other saves, before stopping Ramsey’s penalties with his legs. Ultimately, it was just a step too far for the Glasgow outfit.
A shame for Rangers, but they have done the club so proud. No-one could have predicted a side, that suffered a financial collapse in 2012 and had to start again, would be in the Europa League final a decade later.
