New Glasgow Rangers signing Josh Windass has admitted to the club’s official website that pre-season training has been a step up from Accrington Stanley.
The youngster is one of several new signings this summer as Mark Warburton has been busy in the transfer window. He linked up with his new teammates earlier this month as pre-season gets underway ahead of the new campaign.
Warburton’s side are currently on a pre-season tour of the United States as they gear up for a first season back in the Scottish Premiership.
And Windass admits that he has found the standard of training to be a step up from what he had at the League Two side.
“Training has been very different to what I’m used to, it is a lot of sessions a day,” he told rangers.co.uk.
“It is more intense and a little bit better quality than Accrington, no disrespect to them, so it was hard to get used to at first. The tempo of the training is better and I feel like I’m doing quite well.”
Windass will be hoping to catch his manager’s eye and try to secure himself a first-team spot for next season.
He faces a fight to get into a packed midfield, with the signings of Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar increasing the competition for places in Rangers line-up.
Warburton showed a desire to hand youth a chance in their title winning campaign last year though, and Windass could be the latest to benefit from that faith.
