Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers looked set to offload Josh Windass, but the youngster has impressed.

Glasgow Rangers attacking midfielder Josh Windass has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he did not speak to Pedro Caixinha before breaking back into the team at Ibrox.

Windass appeared to be on his way out of Rangers this summer, after a difficult first season in Glasgow.

The former Accrington Stanley man failed to make the desired impact at Ibrox in his first term, and looks set to be offloaded.

However, Windass has impressed with his performances over pre-season.

Josh Windass of Rangers has a shot on goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers FC and Celtic FC at Ibrox Stadium on April 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The youngster managed to find the net in Rangers’ most recent friendly match against Sheffield Wednesday.

Pedro Caixinha has now spoken highly of Windass’ talents, suggesting that the midfielder could stick around.

And Windass says that he is delighted to have turned things around, as he never wanted to leave Rangers.

“My mind has firmly been on getting in this team,” Windass said.

“I didn’t really chat to him (Caixinha). I just came in, got my head down and see where it took me.

“I didn’t speak to my agent at all to be honest. I just get tweets and messages saying this club wants me or this club wants me.

“I think I have been linked with every club down in England for the last two weeks but my mind has been firmly fixed on playing for Rangers.”

Windass could now start for Rangers in their first competitive match of the campaign, which comes at the weekend.

The Light Blues’ first match of the season comes against Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday.
