The winger will hope to force his way back into the Southampton first-team.

After eight months on the sidelines, Southampton prospect Josh Sims returned to action this week as he completed 45 minutes in the U23 fixture against Reading.
Sims showed some encouraging signs in the 1-1 draw, and, once he has regained full fitness, the 20-year-old will hope to get back into the Southampton first-team setup.
Last season Sims broke into the Southampton senior squad in impressive fashion, with the winger getting an assist on his Premier League debut as he set up a goal for Charlie Austin.

A fast and skillful player, Sims certainly impressed former Southampton manager Claude Puel, and he will now be seeking to do likewise with Mauricio Pellegrino.
Sims’ directness could be hugely useful for Southampton in the second half of the season, although there is a possibility that he could be sent out on loan in January so that he can play regular senior football.

Another objective for Sims will be to force his way back into the England setup as he missed out on being part of the Three Lions’ victorious squad at the U20 World Cup earlier this year due to injury.
For now, though, Sims will simply be pleased to be back playing again after such a lengthy absence.
