Tottenham midfielder Josh Onomah could be heading to Sheffield Wednesday again ahead of the new season, and it could be another loan deal for the attack-minded player.
The Sheffield Star report that Wednesday want to sign Onomah for a second time following his loan spell at Hillsborough last season.
The 22-year-old currently has two years left on his current deal at Spurs, and if he fails to make an impact in his next spell away from the club then it could result in him making a permanent move away from North London next summer.
Onomah has been a bit of an enigma at Tottenham. He seemingly has all the talent in the world to be what he wants, he is comfortable on the ball and has a silkiness about his game, but it’s not been showcased on a consistent basis.
Mauricio Pochettino is a man who gives many players the chance to prove themselves, but if Onomah fails to deliver the goods again ahead of his reported loan to Wednesday then it could mean the end of his career at Tottenham.
This could be his last chance to impress Pochettino and show him that he is capable of somehow making a breakthrough into the senior set-up at the Champions League club.
During his three seasons in the Championship, Onomah has played 48 matches [transfermarkt], but he has only managed four goals and six assists for Wednesday and Aston Villa.
His talents should be delivering more than that, but if those numbers and performances continue then this time next summer, then he should have no complaints at the decision the club might make about his future.
