Rangers have loaned out Josh McPake and it could be one of the most exciting decisions made by Steven Gerrard’s side this season.

Of course, that is setting aside the short term fact that McPake is heading out – but he never stood a chance of regular game time at Ibrox in any case.

McPake is signing with Dundee until January, Rangers confirmed.

McPake’s potential is obvious. He caught the eye for the development squad last season and needs to be tested at a higher level.

This way, Rangers are going to see McPake get a chance in a competitive situation and potentially become a first choice, regular starter.

In an ideal situation, McPake will thrive for Dundee, and return to Rangers with a real case to become a regular at Ibrox.

This could be in January, or if his loan is extended, McPake could get his chance next summer.

The loan helps Rangers accelerate McPake’s development, and the club could reap the benefits in years to come.
