Fortune favours the brave, but that hasn’t proven to be the case with one former Celtic player.

Josh Kerr left Celtic to join Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League in the summer of 2017.

But fast forward 18 months and the 20-year-old defender may just regret ever having turned his back on the Hoops.

That is because Kerr, according to The Scottish Sun, may be set join Irish Premier League side Derry City after really struggling at Brighton.

The young centre-back is nowhere near Chris Hughton’s first-team squad and hasn’t made a single appearance for the Seagulls since joining.

To make matters worse, Kerr actually turned down the chance to sign a new contract with Celtic, making the revelation to Albion’s official website after joining.

Brendan Rodgers is a wonderful man-manager and one who can bring players to the next level, so you wonder whether Kerr would now do anything to be back at Parkhead.

As far as football goes, leaving Glasgow for the allure of top-flight English football was an understandable decision, but a poor one in hindsight and he may admit as much if he ends up in Irish football.
