Josh Hokit is confident he has a long UFC career ahead of him.
The unbeaten heavyweight, holding a 9-0 record, is set to take on Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250.
A victory over Lewis could put Hokit right in the mix for a title shot. But Alex Pereira has stirred things up, suggesting the outspoken American might be cut from the promotion following his appearance at the White House event.
Josh Hokit has raised a few eyebrows during his short spell in MMA with some of the things he’s said.

The former NFL player even nearly sparked a brawl after making comments about Alex Pereira’s mother at the UFC Freedom 250 press event.
Despite that, Hokit isn’t worried about his future in the UFC and doesn’t think he’s at risk of being released anytime soon.
“Pereira can say whatever,” he told UFC Embedded. “When you put on a fight like how I put on last fight, I don’t think I’m going anywhere.”
“I just signed an eight-fight contract as well. He’s talking just to talk, and he’s running away. He’s scared. Maybe he hopes that Dana [White] kicks me out.”
“It doesn’t matter what I say because the most important thing is what these fists are talking about.”
Alex Pereira casts doubt on Josh Hokit’s UFC future
Alex Pereira stirred the pot earlier this week by casting doubt on Josh Hokit’s place in the UFC.
‘Poatan’ hinted that regardless of how Hokit fares at the White House, his time with the organisation might be short-lived.
“I don’t know if he’s even going to be a part of this organisation going forward,” Pereira said on Wednesday.
“He’s gonna fight (this Sunday), but I don’t know, I’ve heard some things here and there, it may not even be worth talking about him because I don’t think he’s gonna be here.
“There’s a huge audience that watches the UFC, there are children, there are families, and a lot of the things he says and does are just very disrespectful so, I think I don’t know.”
