West Ham suffered a surprise 3-2 loss to FC Winterthur on Sunday.

West Ham United midfielder Josh Cullen has told the club’s official website that he is excited by the signings of defenders Issa Diop and Ryan Fredericks – despite the Hammers’ 3-2 loss to FC Winterthur.
The Hammers began their pre-season tour of Austria with a surprise loss to the minnows, despite goals coming from long-term West Ham players Andy Carroll and captain Mark Noble.
Fredericks joined the club on a free transfer from newly-promoted Fulham this summer, while Issa Diop move to the London Stadium as part of a club-record transfer from French side Toulouse – after captaining the Ligue 1 outfit.
Both new signings Diop and Fredericks managed 45 minutes on Sunday and Cullen, who made his West Ham debut last term, reckons the duo will be good additions for the Hammers despite the loss.
“I think Ryan and Issa, from both their performances, you can see what they’re going to bring to the squad,” Cullen said. “I’ve seen it all week in training, not just today.
“They won’t be judged on this performance and I’m sure they are going to prove themselves crucial members of the squad. I’m looking forward to sharing the pitch with them.”

Cullen will be looking to push on from last season, though the Hammers are expected to add a new central midfielder to rival the likes of Cullen, Noble, Cheikhou Kouyate, Pedro Obiang and Edimilson Fernandes.
West Ham have also signed Lukasz Fabianski and Jack Wilshere, who was confirmed on Monday afternoon following his release from Arsenal and are reportedly in talks with Lazio winger Felipe Anderson.
