The West Ham United midfielder was impressive against Shrewsbury Town.
Josh Cullen has had to wait for an opportunity to impress at West Ham United, but the young midfielder seized his opportunity in the FA Cup third round tie away to Shrewsbury Town yesterday.
Cullen, who has recently returned from his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers, produced a composed display in the goalless draw and it will be intriguing to see what the future holds for him at West Ham.
A product of the club’s academy, Cullen made his Premier League debut for West Ham in the 2015/16 season and made four senior appearances in total during that campaign.
Since then he has gained valuable experience on loan at first Bradford City and then Bolton, but the 21-year-old’s ultimate aim remains to make the breakthrough at West Ham.
Cullen should certainly be given a chance to prove himself and he possesses considerably more experience than fellow midfield prospect Domingos Quina.
It is currently unclear what manager David Moyes’ plans are for Cullen, but against Shrewsbury he demonstrated that he can make an impact when called upon.
If fit Cullen, who had a tooth knocked out against Shrewsbury, should feature in the replay at London Stadium, which would provide him with another opportunity to showcase his credentials.
