Tim Sherwood told Premier League Productions (21/02/21 at 13:00 pm) that Tanguy Ndombele’s body language during Tottenham’s defeat to West Ham didn’t go ‘unnoticed’ by Jose Mourinho on Sunday.
It was yet another questionable performance from Spurs, who once again waited to fall behind to threaten the opposition.
Whilst Tottenham’s second-half display was full of intent, chances and a will to win, the same cannot be said for the first period at the London Stadium.
Ex-Spurs boss Sherwood was critical of how sloppy his former side were in possession and the body language of their club-record signing.
“It’s not good enough (their tempo),” said Sherwood. “They are moving the ball too slowly.
“Where is Reguilon going there? This is (supposedly) defending. Mis-controlled from Jarrod Bowen and West Ham, else he’s clean through. If they are more clinical.
“But this is more of them (Spurs). But no-one to play with. Ndombele, look at his body language.
“I tell you what, that’s not gone unnoticed. You can see that it’s not gone unnoticed (highlights Mourinho on the touchline).
“He’s sees it. He’s not stupid, Jose. He sees it.”
Well, Ndombele will be the least of Mourinho’s worries now because his team are heading one way and that’s towards the bottom half of the Premier League table.
A crucial six or so weeks await those in North London because they have their Europa League knockout game, including a number of London derbies, including Arsenal to deal with.
All in all, if Spurs come out of those matches unbeaten then things will be rosy in the garden once more, if not then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Mourinho walking out of Tottenham’s gates.
