Rangers already have a number of centre backs, but they’re now being linked with signing another this summer.

The Gers have Connor Goldson and new signing Jack Simpson, whilst Leon Balogun is likely to stay on for next season.

Nikola Katic will return from injury and George Edmundson will be back from his loan spell at Derby County, though his future is a little uncertain.

Filip Helander is now being linked away from Ibrox, with Aftonbladet reporting that Aston Villa and Leicester City want the Swede – and Rangers have already picked out a replacement.

It’s stated that Rangers want Elfsborg ace Joseph Okumu, believing that the Kenyan international could be an ideal addition at Ibrox.

The 23-year-old has been shining in Sweden, and could now follow in the footsteps of compatriot Victor Wanyama by becoming a Glasgow hero – though, this time on the blue side.

Okumu has now spoken about his future, telling Fotbolltransfers that he is sure he will move on when the time is right – and that could be this summer.

Okumu added that he wants to play in one of the top five leagues – England, France, Germany, Italy or Spain – meaning Rangers may face a battle for his signature.

“It’s not just about what one side wants, it’s about the bigger picture,” said Okumu. “When the time is right, I am sure that I will move on and there will be a mutual agreement between me and Elfsborg. If it’s not the right time, then I’ll stay.”

“I can not say any specific country or league. It all depends on which bids come, and it is only then that I will have to decide what suits my playing style best. I hope to play in one of the top 5 leagues in Europe,” he added.
