Newcastle’s in-form forward Joselu faces former club Stoke on Saturday – and he may have a point to prove to Mark Hughes.

Joselu has already become a popular figure among Newcastle United fans, helped by two wins on his first two starts since signing from Stoke City.
The former Real Madrid man scored on his full home debut against West Ham United, finally lifting the gloom that had surrounded the Magpies’ start to the season.

And Joselu appears to have the attributes to bring the best out of his team-mates, too, offering a sizeable target up top – in contrast to Dwight Gayle – while remaining disciplined – unlike Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Coming up against Stoke this weekend, the 27-year-old will surely sense the opportunity to prove to former manager Mark Hughes that he can cut it in the Premier League.

Joselu was signed from Hannover in 2015, but he started just 10 league games for the Potters before being sent on loan to Deportivo La Coruna and, despite an impressive pre-season, then moving on to Newcastle.
If the German-born forward feels he was not given a proper chance at Stoke, the same cannot be said at St James’ Park, where he has Rafa Benitez’s full trust.
Joselu can repay that faith with another big performance on Saturday, while simultaneously showing Hughes what he is missing.
