LIV golfers face an extremely difficult decision this offseason.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the future of LIV Golf after the Sudais pulled funding, LIV players must position themselves carefully for the 2027 season.

These players must determine whether LIV will exist next season, whether they want to play on the tour, and, if not, find a future for themselves on another tour. Even Bryson DeChambeau is making alternative plans for 2027, speaking to PGA Tour officials and considering doing YouTube full-time.

This is far easier for the biggest names, who have a plethora of options on the table. The future is less certain for players like Josele Ballester, who may be unable to return to the PGA Tour if LIV folds.

Ballester was asked for his thoughts on LIV’s current predicament after he made a decision that gives him some insurance ahead of the 2027 season.

Josele Ballester says he thinks LIV will exist next season despite pursuing DP World Tour membership

Ballester has decided to secure dual membership with the DP World Tour amid uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf’s future. He’s one of many LIV players who are ensuring they can play on the tour, following the likes of Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, and Jon Rahm.

The Spaniard said that this doesn’t mean he believes LIV will fold, and he already had planned to play on the DP World Tour next season before the LIV news was reported.

Speaking to bunkered, he said, “We don’t really know what’s going to happen with LIV. I mean, I believe it’s going to stay around. But even before these rumours came out, my idea was still to get the dual membership and play on DP as much as I could.”

But with so many LIV players agreeing deals with the DP World Tour, their actions are speaking louder than their words. Especially when Poulter and Westwood were so opposed to paying their fines but swallowed their pride and paid them anyway.

They can express all the confidence in the world in LIV Golf, but it seems like these players are forming exit strategies in case the league does indeed fold.
