British airline, Ryanair, couldn’t help but aim a dig at Tottenham and Jose Mourinho on Twitter after it was confirmed on Tuesday that he will be taking over at Roma next season.
It’s not even been a month since Tottenham sacked Mourinho and the trophy-laden coach has already landed himself a new job in Italy.
Well, with Mourinho set to leave London for Rome, British airline, Ryanair couldn’t help but dig at the trophyless time he had at Spurs.
They stated that it will cost Mourinho ‘only £14.99’ to travel from England’s capital to his new home for next season, whilst then proceeding to dig at the fact that he won no trophies in North London by claiming that he will not need a ‘carry-on bag’ for the trip.
Until Spurs, every club Mourinho has managed at, he has won a trophy, and in truth, he was 90 minutes away from adding the League Cup to his CV, only for Daniel Levy to pull the trigger days before.
In the end, it didn’t work because Spurs ended up losing the final, but they have proceeded to win back-to-back Premier League matches since.
It will be interesting to see if Roma, who haven’t won a trophy since 2008 (same time as Spurs), can end that drought under Mourinho’s stewardship and whether that will come before Spurs lift any silverware themselves.
But if Mourinho is in a similar situation in Rome to the one he found himself in North London then he might be packing his bags quicker than he thinks.
