If there is one certainty from Jose Mourinho then it’s the fact that he is going to be brutally honest at all times, and he was just that on Sunday.
After Tottenham dispatched Crystal Palace 4-1 to boost their Champions League hopes, Mourinho claimed that he told his players at half-time that he was ‘very happy’ that Christian Benteke equalised just before the break, as he told Sky Sports.
It has sparked a reaction from Spurs fans with some loving the mind games that he is playing.
Usually, when Spurs take the lead heading into the break, they return and are a shadow of the team that started the match.
It does annoy Spurs fans, so perhaps it was good for the team to concede in the manner in which they did because it allowed them to fight for something in the second half.
And fight they did!
It seems as though that Benteke bullet worked wonders for Tottenham’s mindset because they came steaming out, although, some fans questioned what the reaction would have been like if Spurs draw and Mourinho still came out with his comments.
Perhaps conceding every game will help Tottenham perform for the 90 rather than just the 45 because it worked a treat over the weekend.
