There have been a number of names linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job in recent weeks, including Jose Mourinho’s.

Jose Mourinho questioned the desire of Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld prior to the North London derby in September as his name is now being touted for the Tottenham Hotspur job.
The out-spoken manager questioned whether the trio had eyes on the ‘bigger picture’ as he questioned whether they were ‘happy’ to stay at the club this season.
The Daily Mail have claimed that the three-time Premier League winner is interested in taking the Tottenham job as he is currently monitoring Mauricio Pochettino’s current situation.
It is said that Spurs are among the clubs that appeal to Mourinho, who will be plotting a route back to football after being sacked by Manchester United last season.
Nonetheless, prior to Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against bitter rivals Arsenal last month, Mourinho was brutally honest in what he thought about Spurs’ senior trio.
“But maybe this season they are not having that chemistry,” Mourinho told Sky Sports. “I don’t know if I’m right or not but I always felt that while Spurs weren’t buying a lot, they were doing something more important, which was to keep all the good players that they have.
“Maybe now, the feeling that I have – what is happening with Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and what happened at the end of last season with Toby Alderweireld – maybe some of the boys are not so happy to stay. Their eyes might be on bigger pictures – look at Kyle Walker, winning trophies.
“Maybe at this moment the team is not that focused full of chemistry. It looks like the relationship with Mauricio Pochettino is happy; they have an amazing stadium, Champions League football again but maybe some of the boys want something different. Even at the perfect club, if one player isn’t happy, it can make you lose focus.”

Well since that North London derby, things have become a lot worse for Spurs, as Mauricio Pochettino has suffered a number of damaging defeats.
From getting knocked out of the EFL Cup to Colchester United to being thumped 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, it hasn’t been a pleasant few weeks for Pochettino.
It is that senior trio that Pochettino will look to after the international break as he hopes Spurs can turn their fortunes around in these coming months.
