AS Roma and Jose Mourinho turned down the chance to sign Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris during the summer transfer window.
That is according to Italian outlet Il Messaggero.

A report from Il Messaggero claims that Roma were presented with the opportunity to sign Hugo Lloris and Kasper Schmeichel.
The Serie A outfit snapping up the Tottenham goalkeeper would have seen him reunite with Mourinho at the Stadio Olimpico, but it seems that the former Spurs boss is content with his current No.1 Rui Patricio.
It is a development that Lloris may be disappointed with, as the Frenchman is looking for a new club.
He told Nice-Matin back in June that he wanted to try something different, having spent 11 years in north London.
Lloris could still get what he is searching for, but the £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) shot-stopper is running out of options with most transfer windows now closed.
Roma would have been a good move for Lloris
From Lloris’ perspective, it is a shame a switch to Roma failed to materialise. Again, he would have reunited with Mourinho there, while the Italian club have been on the up since the Portuguese’s arrival.
Things are not going so well for them at the moment, but they finished sixth in Serie A last season and reached the Europa League final.
Mourinho’s men also won the Europa Conference League during the 2021/22 campaign, so they have really had a good couple of years under their current boss.
For whatever reason, though, Lloris was not wanted at the Stadio Olimpico and must now find another destination.
