Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told BT Sport that he thinks Dele Alli is playing ‘very very well’ right now.

Spurs beat Wolfsberger 4-0 in North London last night, having beaten the Austrian side 4-1 in the first leg of their Europa League knockout clash last week.

Alli got the ball rolling with a stunning goal, bagging an overhead kick to open the scoring before his creativity took over.

Alli sent in a pinpoint cross for Carlos Vinicius to add a second after the break, and he then found Gareth Bale to make it 3-0.

Vinicius added a fourth late on, but this was the Alli show as he looks to finally prove himself to Mourinho.

Alli has only started one Premier League game all season, and that was on the opening day of the campaign, whilst he has regularly been left out of squads.

A move to Paris Saint-Germain didn’t materialise in January, and Mourinho feels that the closing of the January window and a return to fitness have helped Alli.

Mourinho feels that Alli is ‘coming’ in terms of his form, as he is playing very well and showing hard work for the team to go along with his attacking artistry.

“He had a difficult period,” said Mourinho. “He had the injury, at the same time he had the injury, there was talk talk talk about staying, leaving, leaving, staying. The market closed, the injury has gone, he has started working with lots of motivation, and it’s coming – that’s what we need.”

“He is playing very very well. It is coming, of course the goal was beautiful, but the meaning of the assists, the meaning of the hard work that he had for the team, means more for me because an artistic goal, he can do it, but that work, that continuity in the performance is what makes me really happy,” he added.
