Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has suggested on the club’s official website that Lucas Moura is not valued highly enough.
Lucas was selected to start for Tottenham yesterday, with Mourinho persisting with the Brazilian.
Lucas has now started in Tottenham’s last five matches across all competitions, but Mourinho saw no signs of tiredness from him yesterday.
The 28-year-old scored Spurs’s only goal of the game in their 2-1 defeat at the London Stadium, and Mourinho suggested that Lucas is becoming a very underrated player.
“He’s a team player. That’s what teams need,” Mourinho said.
“Many times people in general don’t give the right value to this kind of player.
“He’s always there for the team. Playing amazing or not so amazing, but always fighting for the team.
“Today I think he was brilliant and he played 65 minutes two days’ ago, not like other guys who didn’t play and were totally fresh. In his case he was amazing for the team.”

Lucas has played 35 times for Spurs this season and has become one of Mourinho’s most trusted players.
Whether every Spurs fan will agree with Mourinho’s analysis that Lucas was ‘amazing’ yesterday is very much up for debate, though.
Lucas’s goal was very well taken, but there were also moments were he was a little careless in possession, particularly in the first-half.
Tottenham are next in action on Wednesday evening in the Europa League against Wolfsberger AC, and it will be interesting to see whether Lucas is backed to keep his place again.
