Tottenham Hotpsur produced an error-laden display to limp into the knockout phase of the Europa League tonight.
Jose Mourinho’s side drew 3-3 away to LASK in Austria to book their spot in the competition in the new year, with one Group J game to go.
But that isn’t to say it was a strong performance from Tottenham because it was anything but.
Two goals either side of the break from Gareth Bale and Son Heung-min had Spurs leading 2-1, after originally falling behind on 42 minutes.
And a Dele Alli penalty on 87 minutes looked to have won it for the visitors, after the hosts pegged them back three minutes earlier.
But Mourinho’s side conceded at the death and although they’re into the next phase of the tournament, they’re only second, behind Royal Antwerp.
Here’s how the Portuguese reacted to the result on Instagram:
Yes, it’s disappointing, but Mourinho won’t dwell on the result.
Instead, the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss, whose Tottenham side sit top of the Premier League table, needs to now look forward to Sunday’s visit of Arsenal.
The Lilywhites are in much better form than their North London rivals – who sit 14th – but despite the Gunners’ goalscoring woes, they can and will exploit Mourinho’s side if the same mistakes are made.
