Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has told Football.London that Carlos Vinicius is still finding it difficult.
Mourinho has said that the 25-year-old forward is still adapting to life in the Premier League.
The Portuguese has added that he has faith in the Brazilian and has hailed his quality.
Vinicius joined Tottenham on loan from Portuguese giants Benfica in the summer of 2020.
According to WhoScored, the Brazilian has played 12 minutes in the Premier League and has provided two assists in 177 minutes in the Europa League for Spurs so far this season.
Mourinho told Football.London about Vinicius: “We have a very good striker in Vinicius, too. He can play, has quality. He needs to adapt and is still finding that adaptation difficult, starting with the language because he doesn’t speak any English.
“Even training sessions, different intensity, different culture in the league means he needs time to adapt, but he can play. There will be some matches where I will play Vinicius and will protect Harry. That’s the way it is.”
Staying positive
Vinicius did not have a pre-season with Tottenham, and it was going to be hard for the forward to hit the ground running at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The forward’s performances in the Europa League have been impressive, and perhaps in the coming weeks and months, he will play more in the Premier League.
With Harry Kane and Son Heung-min playing so well at the moment, Mourinho can afford to allow Vinicius to take his time.
Tottenham are doing well in the Premier League and in the Europa League at the moment.
