Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has told Football.London that Carlos Vinicius was dropped against Everton.
Mourinho has said that Vinicius, signed on loan from Benfica last summer, is not injured, and that he simply did not include the 26-year-old forward in his squad for the Premier League game against Everton at Goodison Park on Friday evening.
The Portuguese told Football.London when asked about leaving out Vinicius: “It was a tactical decision. We went with two strikers on the pitch.
“We had Dele, we had Gareth Bale, we had Lamela and Lucas to eventually come into these two positions of mobility and we decided to leave Carlos out but not injured. Only two play.”
No future at Tottenham Hotspur?
Vinicius is only on loan from Benfica, and it is hard to see Tottenham make the deal permanent.
While the Brazilian forward did well in the Europa League for Spurs, the 26-year-old has not had enough chances to make an impact in the Premier League.

According to WhoScored, Vinicius has made three starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League, scoring one goal in the process.
The forward also made five starts and four substitute appearances in the Europa League for Spurs this campaign, scoring six goals and providing three assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
It will be a surprise if the Brazilian forward stays at Tottenham beyond the end of the season.
