Mourinho has said that with fans inside stadiums, Lloris cannot always get his message across to his Tottenham teammates due to the noise generated.
However, with the stadium now empty and without any fans, the French goalkeeper is finding it easier to communicate.
Lloris was in action for Tottenham in their 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Friday evening.
Spurs will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on West Ham United at home in the league.
Mourinho told Football.London about Lloris: “Yeah. He’s now in a privileged position because now the communication is much easier.
“I believe, I’m sure that his level of communication is exactly the same as every match in his career, but he’s used to struggling for his voice to be heard. In this moment every word you say is very easy.
“Of course I always believe a goalkeeper is a good leader, and a good captain, independent of that, I always knew that a goalkeeper looking at a game in a fantastic position, to organise and be a little bit an extension of the coach, especially in the defensive organisation.
“So if we can get something positive out of the negativity of an empty stadium, of communicating.”
Top-four challenge
Tottenham are still very much in the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League table this season.
However, Spurs need to start winning matches in order to be successful in that quest.
With West Ham in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, Spurs should be confident of picking up all three points from the London derby on Tuesday evening.
