Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho praised Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on Sky Sports News (1:38pm, December 12, 2020).
Mourinho outlined what Hojbjerg, who joined Tottenham from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2020, brings to the team.
Mourinho said about Hojbjerg on Sky Sports News (1:38pm, December 12, 2020): “I always thought that the team needs that profile of player.”
The Portuguese added: “We always knew that we needed a different type of talent because for me Pierre is a talent. We always need this kind of talent to give us more stability and more dynamism in midfield.”
Immediate impact at Tottenham Hotspur
Hojbjerg was a big player at Southampton, and the 25-year-old midfielder has simply carried that form to Tottenham.
The Denmark international has hit the ground running at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and has made an immediate impact at the North London club.
According to WhoScored, the 25-year-old has provided one assist in 11 Premier League matches and has made two starts and three substitute appearances in the Europa League for Spurs so far this season.
Title challengers
Tottenham started the season aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table, but now they are genuine challengers for the title.
Spurs may not be playing eye-catching football, but they are very efficient and are getting the job done.
Mourinho is a serial winner, and perhaps this season, the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss will lead Spurs to the Premier League title.
