Speaking to talkSPORT, Jose Mourinho has compared Tottenham striker Harry Kane to Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.
Kane is undoubtedly one of the best forwards in the world, and Mourinho says that during his time at Spurs he says that he would always compare him to Benzema.
What’s been said?
Mourinho claimed that Kane is a similar player to Benzema because he does more than just score goals.
“People used to ask me when I was at Tottenham to try to compare Harry Kane with other strikers, and I would always use Karim because these are the strikers that if they don’t score they still give a lot to the team and other strikers, if they don’t score, they are nothing,” Mourinho said.

Benzema-esque?
Mourinho says that Kane is similar to Benzema, but that’s not really a comparison we can get on board with.
Kane is, in our view, the superior striker to Benzema, and while the Frenchman has been Real Madrid’s main man for the past decade, he’s rarely hit the heights we’ve seen from Kane over the past 18 months.
To be fair, it’s hard to be the league’s top scorer and assister when you’re competing with someone like Lionel Messi, but it would certainly be interesting to see what sort of numbers Kane would put up if he was playing in La Liga.
The two strikers are certainly dynamic, but they do have their differences in how they play.
