Leeds United are trying to sign Mario Pasalic.

Leeds United are hoping to sign midfielder Mario Pasalic from Chelsea, according to Italian journalis Gianluca Di Marzio.

Pasalic is available on a season long loan, and he is a player tipped for the very top.

Leeds fans should be encouraged by comments from Pasalic’s former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who hailed the Croatian talent after signing him from Hajduk Split in 2014.

Mourinho told Croatian news outlet Jutarnji: “You’re asking me for Pasalic? For this boy I have nothing but praise, he is a great player, he is our great hope and from him in the future, we expect a lot.

” He went to Spain on loan, there will be progress. He will soon be part of our team.”

Pasalic moved on loan to Elche, where the central midfielder benefitted from making 31 La Liga appearances.

Midway through his second loan, at Monaco, Mourinho was fired by Chelsea, and new boss Antonio Conte sent him on loan to AC Milan last summer.

At Milan last season he made 21 first team appearances, scoring five times in Serie A.

Pasalic is now 22 and picking up vital experience, but it appears Chelsea are not ready to offer him a first team spot next season.

Leeds United could seriously benefit by adding the Croatian international to their midfield as they tool up ahead of next season.
