According to Corriere Dello Sport, Paulo Dybala could join Roma this summer.

Dybala has been linked with a number of clubs this summer, including Tottenham, Inter and Arsenal, but now, it seems as though he may be headed to Rome to work with Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho and Dybala may well be a match made in heaven. After all, the Portuguese gaffer has often gotten the best out of creative attacking midfielders with that type of talent in the past.

Indeed, when you look back through Mourinho’s career, his number 10s are often amongst his most important players and best performers, be that Deco at Porto, Frank Lampard at Chelsea, Wesley Sneijder at Inter or even Mesut Ozil at Real Madrid.

In fact, Mourinho’s recent failings at Tottenham and Manchester United have come when he’s not had that attacking midfield player to build his team around, but things could have been so different if Spurs had signed Paulo Dybala in 2019.

We all know the story by now, Dybala was set to join the north London club that summer, but an image rights issue halted the deal and he stayed at Juventus.

Just months later, Mourinho was appointed as Spurs boss, and while his tenure didn’t quite go to plan, things may have been different if Dybala was on the books in north London.

Now, Mourinho may finally get to work with Dybala, and with the Argentine reportedly excited to work with the former Spurs boss, this could end up being something of a match made in heaven.

Don’t be surprised if Dybala follows in Wesley Sneijder’s footsteps and hits a new level under Mourinho, and if he does, Daniel Levy may end up feeling a tinge of regret about the fact he didn’t unite the pair at Spurs when he had the chance to.
