Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly determined to land Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose.

The Sun claim Mourinho is at odds with United’s board as he wants them to pay Tottenham’s £50m asking price, but the Old Trafford hierarchy are not convinced.

United’s stance is a fair one, and Mourinho is picking the wrong battle to fight with his club’s board.

The Sun claimed Mourinho is ‘furious’ that United are not paying up for Rose, but quite simply, there is no need to.

United potentially have a better player in Luke Shaw, if Mourinho can coach it out of him on a consistent basis, and the former Southampton talent is younger and only just scratching the surface of his potential.

Rose may even have peaked, and has struggled with knee injuries over the past year, which have recently resurfaced, keeping him out of Tottenham’s last two fixtures.

There is also the option of signing Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon, tipped as the next big talent, who Spurs would almost certainly swoop for as a replacement for Rose.

Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to sign more players and be backed with bigger funds, but Danny Rose is not the player to have a fall out with his board over.
