Following a thrilling late win over Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho is now hoping his old club, Chelsea, can do him a favour in the transfer window.
It’s been a week dominated by former Blues bosses, with Antonio Conte’s Napoli exiting the Champions League at the Maradona.
Conte took defeat in stride, complimenting Joao Pedro and acknowledging Chelsea’s quality as world champions after an intense match.
He also mentioned Napoli’s interest in Tyrique George after the final whistle, looking to lean on his Stamford Bridge connections before the window closes. But competition is growing for the forward, with more clubs showing interest as Monday’s deadline approaches.
Jose Mourinho looks to bring in Tyrique George from Chelsea

Jose Mourinho recently commented on the rise of less experienced managers like Liam Rosenior taking big jobs, suggesting it’s a trend across football.
Now, he’s reportedly looking to Chelsea for a bit of help in the transfer market.
Duncan Castles spoke about this on the Transfers Podcast, saying Benfica are very interested in bringing Tyrique George over on loan this month.
“Benfica have been looking to get a deal in place for George. They are very keen to take the player,” Castles said.
“The agent is working to make that happen. The problem is the cost.
“Benfica is proposing a loan with an option to buy. Chelsea would like a guaranteed fee on that deal. Benfica haven’t given up yet. So there is still the possibility of that move happening before the deadline.”
Chelsea holding firm on Tyrique George negotiations
It’s clear the Chelsea board is pushing for a guaranteed fee, and that’s a positive sign. The club is no longer a soft touch in the transfer market, and this approach reflects their stronger stance.
Opting for a loan with an option to buy rather than an obligation might work in Chelsea’s favour. It gives them time to evaluate George’s development and leaves the door open for him to return if he makes significant progress.
Look at what happened with Aaron Anselmino and Mamadou Sarr. Both made strong impressions during their loan spells, and now at least one of them is expected to get an opportunity with the first team.
