Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has praised Leeds United and Aston Villa, as quoted on BBC Sport.

Mourinho has said that Leeds are a difficult side to play against and has raved about Villa.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss made the comments following his side’s win against Leeds on Saturday.

Spurs got the better of the Whites 3-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League and will face Villa away from home at Villa Park in the league on January 13.

BBC Sport quotes Mourinho as saying: “The three points are very important. I think we understood how well they could hurt us and how we could hurt them. In that aspect I am happy but I still think we can and have to do better.”

The Portuguese added: “When we played the people who are considered the top six people say easier games are coming but I of course don’t believe it.

“Leeds are difficult and Aston Villa is my favourite team in the Premier League at the moment. I enjoy watching them, they have good players and very well coached. This is up next.”

Compliment

Leeds won automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of the season, while Villa narrowly avoided the dreaded drop from the Premier League at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

While the Whites have been superb in the Premier League, the Villans look very different from last season and are pushing for a European place.

Mourinho’s aforementioned comments are very complimentary indeed, and underline the brilliant work that Marcelo Bielsa is doing at Leeds and Dean Smith at Villa.

As for Spurs, the North London club are very much in the race for the Premier League title and could go all the way this season.
