Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football.London that he is not interested in signing Stuttgart attacker Nicolas Gonzalez.
With question marks over Erik Lamela’s future whilst Carlos Vinicius and Gareth Bale only on loan, adding a versatile attacker who can play up front or out wide may make sense for Spurs.
On Monday, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that Tottenham held preliminary talks over a deal to bring Gonzalez to North London off the back of his strong Bundesliga form.
Juventus were claimed to be negotiating a deal too, with Stuttgart expecting a fee of around €30million (£27million) for their red-hot forward.
Gonzalez, 22, has racked up five goals and two assists in 10 Bundesliga appearances this season, whilst he was superb last season too, hitting 14 league goals.
The left-footed attacker has also become a regular for Argentina, often featuring down the left flank whilst offering pace and trickery in the final third.

Gonzalez could be an exciting addition for Tottenham, but don’t expect to see him arrive this month – or any time soon for that matter.
Spurs boss Mourinho was asked about talks for Gonzalez, and claims he knows nothing about it, and isn’t even pursuing Gonzalez to begin with.
“Discussions with who? Not with me,” said Mourinho. “No, no,” he added when asked if Gonzalez is a player he even wants to sign.
