Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football.London that he expects Gareth Bale to be back to face Liverpool.
Spurs headed to South London today, taking on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park – and they took the lead through a long-range Harry Kane strike.
Mourinho’s men were disappointing after the break though, and Palace’s pressure finally told as Jeffrey Schlupp fired home an equaliser from close-range.
Vicente Guaita produced two miraculous saves late on to deny Kane and Eric Dier, with Spurs having to settle for a point.
The attention will quickly turn to Wednesday’s game against Liverpool, as first will meet second in a top of the table clash.
Mourinho will be hoping to have Bale back, as the Welsh winger missed today’s game due to an illness – though it isn’t pandemic-related.

Having missed Tanguy Ndombele against Arsenal last week through illness too, this was another concern for Tottenham – but Mourinho allayed some fears.
Mourinho believes Bale’s illness isn’t even flu, so ‘he will be fine’ to face Liverpool – though whether he starts or has to sit on the bench remains to be seen.
“He was ill, not Covid, not even flu that keeps you in bed for a week,” said Mourinho. “I believe for Wednesday he will be fine,” he added.
