Tottenham Hotspur will be desperate to beat Everton tonight as they look to press ahead with another cup run under Jose Mourinho.

Spurs are into the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City, whilst they’re also into the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Tonight, Spurs travel to take on Everton at Goodison Park, with a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup up for grabs.

Much has been made of Spurs needing to win a trophy, having failed to win major silverware since securing the Carling Cup in 2008.

Mourinho has been brought in to end that drought, so he needs to win tonight – and unsurprisingly, there have been questions about Harry Kane ahead of the match.

Kane is one of the top strikers in the world but has yet to win anything in his career with Spurs, and will turn 28 this summer.

He still has more than three years on his contract, so a deal to leave any time soon seems unlikely, but few could blame him for wanting to win trophies.

Mourinho was asked about this on Tuesday, telling Football.London that he doesn’t think the focus should be on Kane waiting for trophies at Spurs, but more about him fighting for them.

Mourinho noted that Kane is one game away from winning a trophy with the Carabao Cup final on the horizon, with the Spurs boss seemingly relaxed about the whole situation.

“To win a trophy, he just needs to win one game,” said Mourinho. “I know that it is a big, difficult game. I know that it is against probably the team that is going to win the Premier League this year, so I think it is a very difficult final that we will have to play, but to win a trophy, we just need to win a match.”

“You have to ask [him], but I think to wait is not the right way to describe it. It is to fight for it, is to fight for it, but it’s something very personal that I think he is the right guy to have a conversation with you about it,” he added.
