Liverpool have a great chance of winning their sixth Champions League trophy this season.
Jose Mourinho delivered his verdict on Liverpool’s Champions League chances, when speaking exclusively to Portuguese media outlet A Bola.
The Reds have been quite simply superb this season, and they currently sit comfortably at the top of the Premier League table, as well as having a Champions League quarter-final against Porto to look forward to later this month.
Liverpool have won Europe’s premier competition five times, most recently in 2005, and they lost last year’s final to Real Madrid in Kiev.
And Jurgen Klopp’s men will fancy their chances this time around, after what was perceived as a favourable draw against Porto in the last eight.
Mourinho offered words of caution for Liverpool, however, suggesting that the fact that they are competing for the Premier League title could affect their chances of progressing through against the Portuguese champions, when speaking exclusively to Portuguese media outlet A Bola:
“Liverpool have absolutely fantastic individual quality, but they are disputing the league title which means that they will not rest players in the previous game or between the two games.”
Liverpool play Porto at Anfield on April 9th after their trip to Southampton on Friday night, and they then play host to Chelsea before making the trip to Portugal for the return leg.
And the next two weeks really could end up defining the Reds’ 2018/19 campaign.
