Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has given his take on Carlos Vinicius following his performance against Chelsea, as quoted on BBC Sport.
Mourinho said that Vinicius has “incredible spirit”, but the Portuguese coach does not think that the forward is comfortable with pressing.
Spurs suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Thursday evening.
The North London club were very defensive in the first half, but they did do better after the break and went close to scoring.
BBC Sport quotes Mourinho as saying: “Vinicius is a player with an incredible spirit but his understanding of how to press is something he’s still not comfortable with.
“Then in the second half it was much more difficult for them, we pressed them much better and higher and in the second half I believe we deserved a little bit more.”

How did Carlos Vinicius play against Chelsea?
Vinicius, signed on loan from Benfica in the summer of 2020, was a largely isolated figure in the first half, as the Brazilian simply did not get enough service.
The 25-year-old did get a very good chance in the second half, but the forward could not find the target with his header.
According to WhoScored, Vinicius had a pass accuracy of 61.5%, won six headers, took 21 touches, and made one tackle and two clearances.
The 25-year-old forward has made one start and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season, according to WhoScored.
