Writing in his column for The Times, Jose Mourinho has backed Tottenham Hotspur teenager Dane Scarlett to reach the very top.
The striker made his Spurs debut under Mourinho, and while the former Chelsea boss is no longer in charge in north London, he still has high hopes for the 17-year-old.
What’s been written?
Mourinho was dissecting England’s future chances at international tournaments, and he’s backed Scarlett to become a phenomenal player in the future.
“I know he’s still very young, just 17, and it is probably too early for the next World Cup, but Tottenham Hotspur have a striker in Dane Scarlett, who, if everything goes well, is going to be phenomenal. For England, there is lots of promise,” Mourinho wrote.

From day one
It’s not surprising to hear Mourinho saying this. After all, he championed Scarlett from day one.
The youngster made his debut under Mourinho at just 16, and ever since the gaffer has been saying nothing but good things about him.
He even once compared him to Marcus Rashford.
Sadly for Scarlett, Mourinho is no longer at the club and he’ll have to work hard to impress Nuno Espirito Santo this season, but if he’s as good as his former manager suggests, impressing Nuno should be a rather straightforward task.
