Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football London that Steven Bergwijn put in ‘incredible effort’ against Arsenal.
Spurs beat their North London rivals 2-0 on Sunday afternoon, with Son Heung-min and Harry Kane bagging the goals in a comfortable win.
Son and Kane understandably stole the headlines once again as they set each other up to score, but there were other key performances.
For instance, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was a rock in front of the Tottenham back four, whilst Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld deal with a barrage of Arsenal crosses.
Mourinho has offered praise to winger Steven Bergwijn though, who was deployed on the right flank against Arsenal.
The Dutchman sacrificed himself for the team, as he completed just 10 passes, had no shots on target and just one key pass.

Attacking wasn’t his priority; he blocked a cross, made two clearances and one tackle, offering great defensive protection for Serge Aurier down the right.
These attributes weren’t what Spurs really bought Bergwijn for, but Mourinho praised him for his ‘incredible effort’ in Tottenham’s victory – and that goes some way to explaining why he has been picked in big games lately.
